Brendyn released a solo CD Mountain Air with Mike Considine (bouzouki) which was the winner of the ‘Tui’ for best folk album of 2003 (NZ music and entertainment awards). This album achieved critical praise from international reviewers. It is also receiving regular air play on National radio. He has recorded on several other CD’s including Bob McNeill's CD, Covenant (This album won the New Zealand music industries ‘Tui’ for best folk album of 2002) and Kay Row’s CD, Ancient Tears. These other projects have given him experience outside the field of Irish music. He was a flute soloist with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, for a Celtic inspired piece, Landfall, written by Ewan Clarke. Landfall was the winner of a competition run by the Dunedin City Council in 1998 for a piece of music to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the city. Brendyn’s own composition was placed second equal in this competition.

At the Beginning of 2002 Brendyn successfully auditioned for masters in traditional music performance at the University of Limerick. Brendyn was the first New Zealander to be accepted onto this course. Brendyn gained first class honours in this degree. He returned to New Zealand to play, teach and promote the music. Since his return Brendyn has undertaken duo work with Bob McNeill and Mike Considine as well as recording on the forthcoming Bazuki Joe Album, an Irish/electonica fusion project and Bob McNeill’s eagerly awaited new album Turn the Diesels. Brendyn also teaches extensively, giving lectures and courses at universities and lessons to private students throughout the country.
